Getting started with FireMaps

Fire Maps GIS is a desktop application. It requires a steady internet connection to access all data and features. FireMaps automatically updates every time you log in to ensure that you have the most recent data and features. FireMaps supports both Windows and Mac operating systems.

Installation is easy. Download the set-up instructions here.

Every FireMaps subscription comes with a user’s guide and covers key features including:

  • Basic use and GIS concepts

  • Use of features available to make a map

  • Recording site assessment information

  • Creating project files

  • Creating annotation sets

Training to get the most out of your FireMaps

Basic FireMaps training is available for all subscribers and will demonstrate the capabilities of the tool. This will include online resources and face-to-face sessions according to demand.

A collection of tutorials is included with every subscription which will cover basic features of the program.

Training for more complex features can be arranged upon individual requests and will be provided either online (via Zoom), or face-to-face in small groups. The most suitable option can be arranged by contacting FPA Australia.
